Announcements: July 21

In addition to the usual events of the week that are listed below, we have several new announcements:

  • James Hemmings was baptized last Sunday! Please keep him, Andy, Nick, Darin, Arthur, and others in your prayers. Arthur reported to Parris Island on July 17 to go into Marines; please pray for him!
  • Please pray for those who came to the altar this morning and for those who wanted to but didn’t — God is working on them!
  • Lance is working on his Eagle Scout award. He’s working on a project to reduce the bug population, and he’ll provide a bat box if you contact him at 624-6424.
  • Thursday Night Ride Small group meets at 7:00 pm for the next 4 weeks. “Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy.” It sounds nice, but how do we find rest in a 24/7 world? Join us for the 24/6 adult small group!
  • Teens to Darien Lake – Aug 4-8. Kathryn and Pastor plan to take 16 teens to Darien Lake for 4 days! And you know how teens can eat! They need people to donate food and money for meals. See Kathryn or Pastor if you have questions. And please keep them all in your prayers!
  • Our Mission yard sale is planned for Aug. 9-Aug. 10 (town wide yard sale) at the Sullivan House next to the church. If you have items to sell, please drop them off at the Sullivan House or call Venita at 624-6324 to have them picked up. This will be the only yard sale that we have this year. The Sullivan House is scheduled to be torn down right after the sale.  Doors, windows, etc. that can be salvaged will be sold before or at the sale. If you can work Sat. morning at the sale, please let Venita know.
  • Outreach at the town beach is planned for August 10th at 4:00 pm. There will be a concert and baptism. Please join us for this memorable gathering on the LL Beach, and pray for those who need to be there to hear God’s word! Contact Brian Penrose or Pastor for more details.
  • Back to Church Sunday – September 15, 2013 – See http://backtochurch.com/videos and plan to invite a friend!

Call Pastor John at 518-624-2411 if you have questions.

Update on Manwarings

It looks like I’m a little behind in posting updates from Jody & Jerry Manwaring, our missionaries to Africa. On June 8th, Jody wrote:

Greetings from wintery Pretoria, I hope this finds all well in your world.
Soon Jerry and I will be returning to the  the states for a time of
Partnership Ministry. A time to say thank you  for your faithful support
and prayers.  We also hope to  raise funds to replace the burned out
church in DRC mentioned in the attached prayer letter. The new facility
is a former theater located in Likasi’s town center. This building  will
be converted and used for ministry and administrative purposes. We pray
that God will supply the funds thus enabling  our Wesleyan Brothers and
Sisters in their work to spread the great salvation message.
We will be arriving in the US July 1, our contact info is:
Email: amayeee@aol.com
US telephone: 518 254 7013
Snail Mail: 105 Madison Terrace, Cobleskill, NY 12043
We look forward to seeing you soon.

And today Jody wrote:

Greetings from Cobleskill New York,
Yup, we are back in the states beginning our year of Partnership Ministry.
We look forward to sharing with you  how God is working in Africa and have an opportunity to say thank you for standing with us over the years. If your church has not yet scheduled us for a visit please contact me at: amayeee@aol.com. Our calendar is full for 2013 but we still have available Sundays in 2014.
Thanks Bob and Brenda Bagley for doing a great job organizing the attached prayer calendar.
Thanks to each of you as your prayers keep us going.
“On Him we have set our hope that He will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.” 2 Corinthians 1:10b-11

Mission yard sale

We also raise funds through the Long Lake market on Thursdays.  Proceeds go to the Mission Fund.  If you would like to help out with homemade goods including baked goods, just bring them by the market at 9:00. Last year we were able to send $3,000.00 that was needed for the work on the Guest House in Haiti. This year the new Hospital that will be opened in Sept. is asking for funds. We also hope to send a team of adults and youth in Feb. to deliver Bibles.
